The project

Abdelkader Bensalah Scholarships for Excellence were launched in 2018, in partnership with the Moroccan Student Foundation (FME). It is a program that offers financial and educational support to the best baccalaureate students from disadvantaged backgrounds. The young people are accompanied in their university studies, in order to facilitate their success and professional integration. And once they are integrated into the wage labor or the business world, to inspire them to become ambassadors or even leaders of social innovation projects.

The Foundation's support

Thanks to the support of Abdelkader Bensalah Foundation, scholarships for excellence have been awarded to two classes of five students in engineering and in management and business schools, from different regions of the Kingdom.

On the one hand, the Foundation provides them with financial aid for the duration of their studies, as well as computer equipment, transport allowances and health insurance. On the other hand, it also takes care of the registration, competition and school fees requested by the institutions, while offering support courses and individualised coaching. Finally, Abdelkader Bensalah Foundation also offers scholarship students an introduction to social entrepreneurship and support to encourage them to undertake social innovation.

With this partnership, the Foundation is making a significant impact by giving these 10 baccalaureate students access to excellent training, while raising their awareness of social innovation.

The project holder

The Moroccan Student Foundation (FME) is a non-profit association, created in 2001 and recognised as a public utility in 2013. Its objectives are to enable the brightest baccalaureate holders from backgrounds with limited opportunities to pursue higher education in institutions of excellence, and to accompany them until their professional integration.

MAZAYA

The project

Mazaya is a socio-cultural program that enables school dropouts in the Rabat region to benefit from a double training, combining basic learning with an in-depth musical curriculum. Launched in 2012, this initiative aims at the socio-professional integration of young people through music. It contributes to the fight against exclusion and precariousness.

The Foundation's support

Convinced by the social and cultural impact of the Mazaya project, Abdelkader Bensalah Foundation is sponsoring two children from the program for a period of five years. It hopes to contribute fully to their education while offering them the opportunity for successful professional integration.
This support also aims to prepare these two future artists to become members of our Community of Ambassadors of Social Innovation in the fields of culture and art, among the young generations from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Tenor Foundation for Culture is a non-profit association, which aims to actively contribute to the cultural development of Morocco, by initiating and supporting cultural and artistic actions. It accompanies several events in the field of culture and supports various artistic training activities.

NISSAE TENDRARA

The project

The Nisae Tendrara (“Women of Tendrara”) cooperative is an initiative launched in 2015 by 29 mostly widowed and elderly women from the Tendrara region. Through a courageous project, the women of Tendrara have mobilised to create a cooperative to make traditional tents, characteristic of the nomadic culture of the region. The initiative of women of Tendrara enhances the local heritage and contributes to its protection.

The Foundation's support

The Nisae Tendrara cooperative received financial support from Abdelkader Bensalah Foundation and benefited from the support of two other partners: Déclic agency, for communication and marketing, and Fikra Foundation, for the development of its organisation, its products and for access to markets through the digitalisation of the marketing process.

With this support, Nisae Tendrara is transforming itself into an independent cooperative, economically structured and capable of generating value in order to ensure the financial autonomy of its members and the influence of the traditional and atypical craftsmanship of tents and rattan products from the region.

The project holder

Located in the province of Figuig, Nisae Tendrara cooperative won the Abdelkader Bensalah Prize for Social Impact, during the 2019 National Fair for the Social and Solidarity Economy, organised in the city of Oujda. On this occasion, Nisae Tendrara, chaired by Fatna Hida, was ranked ahead of 700 other cooperatives to benefit from technical and financial support in order to develop.

EMPOW’Her

The project

The EMPOW’HER project aims to support women who wish to become entrepreneurs in the Casablanca – Settat region, so that they can achieve economic autonomy and contribute to the regional economy.

Thus, 60 candidates are selected to participate in a 9-month program, during which the beneficiaries are accompanied in developing their idea, conducting a market study, setting up their project, and seeking financing. This support also helps to guide them when it comes time to launch their business.
EMPOW’HER is aimed at women who have already set up their own business as well as those who are in the process of thinking about or setting up a business. The program is an opportunity to exchange ideas, share experiences and find the motivation to move forward.

The Foundation's support

Abdelkader Bensalah Foundation provided technical and financial support to GO4WORK for the implementation of the Empow’Her program. Thanks to this partnership, 60 women from the Casablanca – Settat region have benefited from support towards empowerment in the development of their entrepreneurship projects. This is thanks to the training and coaching or mentoring sessions they have benefited from during their journey.

The project holder

GO4WORK is a Moroccan startup that offers a coworking space in Casablanca, as well as coaching and training programs dedicated to project holders. It was created in 2017, as part of the Smart Start program, set up by Injaz Al-Maghrib. Chaimaa Elghani, its founder, was awarded the International Entrepreneur Prize at the Paris Coworking Fair in 2017.
